Si!! PITOT es un nombre y no las siglas de Pressure Intake Total! ;)
Henri Pitot fue un ingeniero y físico francés que vivió en el S.XVIII. Fue el responsable de la construcción de un canal navegable desde Toulouse hasta el Mediterráneo, conocido como Canal du Midi. Uno de los retos durante la construcción de este Canal era calcular la fuerza dinámica del agua para poder construir muros resistentes. El tubo Pitot fue la ingeniosa solución de este físico Francés.

Henri Pitot was a French engineer and physicist who lived in the 18th century. He was responsible for the construction of a navigable canal from Toulouse to the Mediterranean, the Canal du Midi. One of the challenges during the construction of this Canal was to calculate the dynamic force of the water in order to build resistant walls. The Pitot tube was the ingenious solution of this French physicist.
